Geraldton- Three weeks

It is hard to remember all the reasons that we stayed in Geraldton WA for so long.  Firstly, it was the all expense paid house with view and swimming pool which was appreciated after three months in a caravan. A nice break to stretch out. Another influence for the lengthy stay was the the all expense paid trip to The Abrohlos Islands with an generous local family. It was the surfing, the snorkeling, the beaches, the weather.  It was also school holidays and there simply wasn't anywhere else that wasn't already booked up.   Mr. M managed to line up some consulting jobs which took him back to SA for one of those weeks so the rest of us needed to hang out and wait.
Geraldton is a working family town with lots of good things about it. The main part of town is along a beautiful town beach.  Quaint eateries, surf shops, and discount odds and ends stores line the strip.  It has a fantastic museum with excellent displays and stories of the shipwrecks at The Abrolhos. To the south end of town there is a busy port for commercial fisheries. However the real attraction for many who come to Geraldton is the highly paid jobs in the oil/gas sector just  off the coast of Geraldton.
Geraldton WA is the last big city in WA  before heading into the most rural parts of the northern Australia. It has all the large stores to stock up on whatever for those heading north.
We did so much during these three week that the posts might just drag on for a while. It was a good three weeks.
