One Caravan, Two Kids, a Sausage Dog, and a Year

I lived in Tasmania with hubby and two kids (now ages 9 and 11yrs). Living most of our lives in North America we made a seemingly bold move to Tasmania, a distant, dangerous place where devils and tigers lurked in the remote forests waiting to attack unsuspecting North Americans. Tasmania was a unsuspected surprise. It has beautiful beaches, boutique eateries and shops, rich culture and arts with cities not too big but not too small. It has been a rich six years with no regrets. It is the best place we have lived but it is now time to move on. Just restlessness mostly.
The idea of cravatting around Australia came to our minds almost two years ago. A family we met shared their plans of taking 6 months with their kids and touring. It all sounded a bit reckless and exciting. Fighting off crocs, riding camels on the beach, swimming with sharks and dolphins, everyday a new view, a new adventure, endless discovering. The idea was milled around in our heads and eventually became familiar, possible, and then a plan.

Feb 3rd 2011 we depart Tasmania for a year to explore Australia via caravan. Inside this blog is a journal of our adventures, a family of four and a sausage dog. Let the adventure begin!
