Yellow House

Our shack was the sunny yellow one. We were warned to expect very basic accommodation on The Abrohlos but our shack had everything we needed including a sense of adventure.  We made sure to bring along our sense of humor.
Electricity on the entire island came from a community generator. It promptly shut down each night at 9:30. The new found dark responsibly ushered people back to their respective shacks and the night time events came to a close. However it wasn't uncommon for the party goers to sneak over to the generator shack and switched it back on.   Like an alarm clock both generator and fishing boats  started up promptly at 6:00am each morning. Any lights left on from the night suddenly lit up and the day began. The docks were then bustling with fishermen heading out for the days work.

Water was precious here. Drinking water was brought in from Geraldton and rain water was collected off the roofs. Showering was done with conservation in mind.

Note the sink has no tap. Water was collected at the tap by the door for dish/shower.

Receipe for a warm shower:
1/3 bucket warm (from kettle)
2/3 bucket cold (from tap)
Drop bucket down, fill, hoist up and turn knob. voila!
We all managed to shower in less then one bucket.
