A notable watering hole for the dry and dusty travellers is The Lions Den Hotel. It is en route to Cooktown. Whimsical, rustic and historic you can loose yourself reading the thousands of travellers' hand writings on the walls as you chug back a deservedly cold beer in the tropical heat. If you choose to scribble a saying, joke, or just a signiture for the wall, your invited to do so. The Den also has a nice shady camping spot behind the pub and a croc free swimming creek all for a reasonable price.
