Well so much for the fragile under ground mine tunnels of the old days. Kalgoorlie's Super Pit is appropriately named. The awah factor compares to the grand canyon. The enormous machinery travelling up and down the switchback roads appear tiny as they work away like ants clearing out dirt. It was an amazing site. It was simple to understand why Kalgoolie existed. It was all about the gold. Even the parking lot was full of glittering rocks. Main Street Kalgoorlie is really lined with gold (pubs and brothels also)
